Over 245 Stanford students and faculty signed the pledge to engage in direct action.
Although the period to sign the pledge has passed, since the sit-in is over, we encourage any interested individuals to click the "Get Involved" tab above to see how you can help us in the future and possibly take part in another action.

Stanford must divest from oil and gas before the international climate negotiations in Paris this winter, when our voice can have the maximum impact! However, the University's Board of Trustees and administration are stonewalling, despite strong calls from all sectors of the Stanford community. To convince them of the gravity and urgency of the issue, students are pledging civil disobedience to encourage our Board to act NOW, and divest from fossil fuels.
Our Pledge
"Unless Stanford divests from the fossil fuel industry, I will participate in non-violent direct action to protest my University financially supporting, and therefore condoning, a business model that endangers public health, exacerbates climatic and political instability, and disproportionately harms people of color and low-income communities around the world."
